Truth or Fiction: Fly on the right day -- and save?

You may have heard that, cost-wise, some days are better for flying than others. Is that just a travel myth? Not really, but it helps to understand why.

The unwritten rule is that flying on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday will result in more affordable tickets, which actually tends to be true. The other days of the week are dominated by business travelers, resulting in typically more expensive flights. On a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday, more availability means better pricing. However, one thing to remember is that this “rule” only applies to domestic flights.

Your best bet for finding the right place on a flight? Work with a travel agent who knows your budget and can use their access and knowledge of the airlines to secure the most cost-effective itinerary possible.
