Grief Trip

A Supportive Journey in Maui
Grief is a deeply personal journey, but it does not have to be traveled alone. This special group trip to Maui is designed for people who have experienced loss and would welcome an opportunity to connect with others who understand.
Hosted by Robert Lopez of Freedom Travel, the experience offers a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment with a thoughtful balance of connection and personal space. Travelers will have opportunities to meet one another, remember their loved ones, explore the island, and rediscover small moments of joy at their own pace.
There is no expectation to share more than feels comfortable. The purpose of the trip is to create space for reflection, companionship, rest, and healing while surrounded by the natural beauty of Maui.
Plan My Trip
Connection Without Pressure
The group will gather either on arrival day or the following morning, depending on everyone’s travel schedule. The first gathering will include simple introductions and time to become acquainted.
Afterward, travelers will be free to experience Maui in whatever way feels most meaningful to them. Rest at the resort, explore the island, spend time reflecting, or connect with others in the group. One group luau is planned during the trip, with the location to be announced.
Participation is intended to feel comfortable and supportive. There may be smiles, memories, and tears along the way. The hope is that every traveler returns home reminded that moments of happiness can still be found while continuing to honor the person they have lost.
Who Is This For?
This trip is open to anyone who has experienced loss and feels drawn to a supportive group travel experience. No previous participation in a grief group, counseling program, or organization is required.
Travelers may come alone or with a family member or friend, subject to the group’s booking arrangements. Everyone is asked to help maintain a respectful, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment.
This is a privately coordinated group experience. Reservations must be arranged through Freedom Travel to receive the group’s accommodations and participate in planned group activities. Reservations made directly with the resort are not automatically included in the group.
